I'm a fan of the adage "Pick your battles," but I think this is a better, more positive way to say that.

Yeah. And for me, this way of saying it somehow implies a more fine-tuned, highly refined personal evaluation process. The nature of mental/emotional flotsam and jetsam is understood so organically that it simply flows down the river of perceptions without raising so much as the ripple of a question.
